Connection to the Community

Connection to the Community

From our mission statement: We at Mainely Ski & Ride are focused on serving the community by supporting local non-profits that have a similar mission and vision. We are dedicated to raising funds and awareness for our chosen organization and dedicate 10% of profits directly to supporting their cause.

A note from Mary-Theresa: My entire life, I witnessed first hand what non-profits can do for the community and how important it is to support their cause. I grew up at the Billerica Boys & Girls Club in Massachusetts and spent a significant amount of time in NYC raising funds and awareness for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society as a member of Team in Training. I have seen first hand how raising funds and awareness for an organization one month can change someone's life for the better the next.

This is why, when I created Mainely Ski & Ride, I was determined to have this business not only be a benefit to me - but also support local non-profit organizations that make an impact in the lives of Mainers across the state.

OUR PLEDGE: 10% of all profits from each trip will support these organizations. You too will have the chance to donate directly to each cause.

Jan - March Trips Beneficiary: Winter Kids

About Winter Kids:

WinterKids helps children develop healthy lifelong habits through education and fun, outdoor winter activity.

Note from M-T: I have been a skier since I was 3 years old. In fact, I learned how to ski at Sunday River. I have been fortunate enough to have a Dad who loved to ski and wanted to make sure his children knew how to, and a mother who actually enjoyed sitting in the lodge people watching and reading while we were on the slopes. My parents would let us skip half days to take a trip to Pat's Peak or Sunapee or Gunstock. We grew up having ski weekends with friends and family - some of my fondest memories. My brothers and I were so lucky to have been given this gift.

When I first heard of Winter Kids, shortly after moving to Maine, I thought it was such a fantastic organization. Promoting outdoor winter activity is essential, especially at a young age. I look at Winter Kids providing a similar gift to children that I was given by my parents - and so much more. I am proud to have Mainely Ski & Ride promote Winter Kids and their mission.
